Williams and Bagwell

Season-high Runs Scored Since WWII

Williams and Bagwell

Williams (left) had nine seasons with 100 runs scored (1939-1942, 1946-1949 & 1951). Bagwell was a 3-time NL runs scored leader (1994, 1999 & 2000).

Since World War II, only Jeff Bagwell of the Houston Astros and Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox have had seasons of 150+ runs scored. In 2000, Bagwell scored 152 runs, the first time since 1949 that 150+ runs had been scored in a season. Ted Williams, in 1949, recorded 150 runs.

The record for runs scored in a year is 198 by Hall of Famer Billy Hamilton with the National League’s Philadelphia franchise in 1894. Hamilton had 4 years of 150+ runs scored. Babe Ruth had an amazing 6 years of 150+ runs scored, his top season being 1921 with 177, the 2nd best total ever (since 1893).
