Most Strikeouts All Time

Nolan Ryan

“Every hitter likes fastballs just like everybody likes ice cream. But you don’t like it when someone’s stuffing it into you by the gallon. That’s how you feel when [Nolan] Ryan’s throwing balls by you.” – Reggie Jackson

Nolan Ryan, who has the most strikeouts all time, also holds the Major League record for most career walks issued with a total of 2,795. The closest mark to him is Steve Carlton who recorded 1,833 free passes. Then comes Phil Niekro with 1,809. Early Wynn (1,775) and Bob Feller (1,764) are next. Bobo Newsom walked 1,732 batters. Carlton is the only left-hander on this top list.

Nolan Ryan leads the career most strikeouts all time totals list with 5,714. No one else is even close. Number two is Randy Johnson with 4,875, followed by Roger Clemens’ total of 4,672. Steve Carlton is next on the list with 4,136. Johnson and Carlton are left-handed. Many experts dispute Clemens total due to his alleged connection to PEDs. These hurlers are the only ones with over 4,000 Ks.
