Vince Coleman

Most Consecutive Stolen Bases

Vince Coleman

Vince Coleman had 100+ steals in 3 consecutive years: 1985, 1986 and 1987.

Vince Coleman over the course of approximately a year, in 1988 and 1989, stole 50 consecutive bases without being thrown out. In 2006 and 2007, Ichiro Suzuki stole 45 consecutive bases without being thrown out. These are the only two players who have reached this plateau of consecutive steals.

Lou Brock achieved 50+ stolen bases for 12 consecutive years. No one else is even close.

Rickey Henderson stole 50+ bases for 13 seasons each, but they were not consecutive. Henderson also had 100+ steals in back-to-back years: 1982 and 1983.

A few more notes:

Billy Hamilton and George Gore are the only 2 players to ever steal 7 bases in a single game.

Eddie Collins stole 6 bases in a game…twice!

Carl Crawford, Otis Nixon and Eric Young, Sr., have each been credited with 6 stolen bases in a single game.

    To Deep Right Field,
Fascinating stuff here. Excellent how your brief vignettes illuminate this great game!
