Paul Waner

Most Consecutive Games With An Extra Base Hit

Paul Waner

Paul “Big Poison” Waner and his younger brother Lloyd “Little Poison” Waner also hold the career record for hits by brothers, ahead of Joe, Dom and Vince DiMaggio and the Alou brothers, Felipe, Matty and Jesus.

The great Paul Waner, star right fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Atlanta Braves’ Chipper Jones share one of the toughest-to-achieve records in baseball history. They each hold Major League baseball’s record for most consecutive games with an extra base hit… 14 games. Waner set the mark in 1927. Jones equaled the rare feat in 2006.

In the modern era (1893 and on), Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby is in 2nd place with an extra base hit in 12 consecutive games.
