Johnny Kling

Kling helped the Chicago Cubs win two World Series championships in 1907 and 1908. He won the world billiards championship in 1909 and took a break from baseball to play professionally. Kling returned to the Cubs in 1910 and led them to another World Series.

Johnny Kling, a catcher with the Chicago Cubs and a member of several early 1900s Pennant and World Series teams was the first Major League player to record 12 consecutive hits. He accomplished this amazing feat in 1902.

Two other hitters have equaled this mark. Pinky Higgins did it with the Boston Red Sox in 1938, and Walt Dropo with the Detroit Tigers also achieved this mark in 1952. Tris Speaker (Cleveland Indians-1920), Johnny Pesky (Boston Red Sox-1946), and Bernie Williams (New York Yankees-2002)–all achieved a consecutive hits mark of 11.
